Super League coach admits “it was hard to watch” his side in defeat

Leigh Leopards started brilliantly against Wigan Warriors last night.

They took a 6-0 lead but fell 10-6 down at the break.

However, ultimately the Warriors ran away with it claiming a 34-6 win with five second half tries as Leigh ran out of steam as many teams do.

Speaking after the game on Leigh’s YouTube channel, Adrian Lam admitted the end of the game was “hard to watch.”

“It was hard to watch the last 20 minutes really when I think there was four tries from kicks and the first try came off a 40/20 as well. I think Smith’s kicking game played a big part in the result tonight.

“Having said that with Bevan and Jai, and the speed they’ve got, they’re going to cause some trouble for teams.

“There was a try there, I think the first try of the second-half that really broke our back was that one where French kicked it into Oliver Holmes and picked it up and kicked again. Just a lucky try that sort of broke our back and I think that was a big turning point for us.

“Apart from that I thought that we didn’t really build pressure through our attack on the try line. You don’t get many opportunities against your St Helens and Wigans and whatnot.

“When we got down there we errored three times when we had the ball and we haven’t done that for the last month so that really hurt us, and I guess also Gaz O’Brien going off early concussed meant we sort of had to change the team around so that certainly hurt us as well.”
