Super League coach addresses reports that star man is headed to big rivals

Right now rumours are swirling around about potential player moves for 2024.

One that made the headlines this week was a potential move for Wakefield Trinity’s Jordy Crowther.

Named vice-captain at the start of the season, the skilful forward was linked with Trinity’s local rivals and relegation rivals Castleford Tigers in 2024.

However, speaking today, Mark Applegarth addressed those rumours.

He claimed that he hadn’t seen the rumours and that nothing had been said to him.

However, he did say that if there is something to be announced then it will be.

He also said that Trinity are focusing on themselves at the moment.

This doesn’t exactly confirm that Crowther isn’t headed to the Jungle but also doesn’t suggest that he is either.

It will be interesting to monitor the situation.

Here is what Applegarth said on BBC Radio Leeds:

“I’ve not seen it, I’ve got a good relationship with Jordy but I’ve not seen it. I’m sure if there’s anything to announce in due time it would get announced but we haven’t really spoken about that. We’re focused on ourselves and our own standards because it’s fair to say it’s not been there.”
