Former Hull FC winger Mane Fonua is on the radar of Super League clubs after Wests Tigers revealed he would not be offered a new deal.
Fonua spent two years with the Black and Whites, winning back-to-back Challenge Cups in 2016 and 2017, before returning to the NRL.
After a tough first year back down under, the 26-year-old was excelling in 2019 under new coach Michael Maguire until a serious foot injury cut short his season.
And with his contract expiring at the end of the year, the Tigers have informed Fonua to look for a new club.
England now seems a likely destination for the Tongan international who is highly rated on these shores.
Fonua was named in the Super League Dream Team in both season’s at Hull and often proved a handful for defences to handle.
It remains unclear yet whether the Airlie Birds will try re-sign their former fan favourite, but Lee Radford will likely make room for Fonua should he want to return.
Castleford is the other likely destination with Daryl Powell looking to improve his outside backs for 2020.
Fonua would be a valuable addition at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle with Powell eager to add Super League proven players to his squad.
