Transfer stories are again dominating rugby league and Super League news at the moment with big announcements from Warrington Wolves and Hull KR as well as Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos in recent weeks meanwhile rumours about incomings and exits circle Hull FC, Leigh Leopards, Huddersfield Giants and Champions St Helens.
One team who can attest to the influence a big signing can have is Wakefield Trinity.
The club brought in former Leeds and Castleford Tigers star Luke Gale, former fan favourite David Fifita among others such as Romain Franco and Will Dagger from Hull KR.
These have helped turn around their season and give them hope of survival with Castleford Tigers now in trouble.
Wakefield have now underlined their interest in another target in the shape of Hull FC star Josh Griffin.
The centre turned backrow is currently serving a huge seven match ban for something he said to Chris Kendall in the Challenge Cup quarter-final between Hull and St Helens.
Now though Mark Applegarth has underlined the club’s interest in him as well the fact Michael Carter will be talking to the relevant people.
“He’s been talked about but he is still under contract at Hull FC,” said Applegarth.
“I use to play with Josh and his brother, Darrell. He grew up in Wakefield and it’s a that is club close to his heart.
“We get Michael Carter speaking to the relevant people and if there’s anything to announce then we’ll announce it.”
It has since been reported by Hull Daily Mail that these talks have been successful and that Griffin will be a Wakefield player.
