Super League club set to take amazing away day following to huge fixture

There are more huge games this weekend as Leeds Rhinos host Hull KR, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves collide on Sky Sports and Hull FC host Castleford Tigers with Cas needing a win after the recent form of Wakefield Trinity who go to Huddersfield Giants.

Wakefield looked left for dead after 14 league defeats to start the season. Even when they beat Leeds, that join was soon undone when they lost to Hull KR and Cas stunned Warrington Wolves.

However, a battering of Salford Red Devils the week after and a triumph over Wigan in Golden Point have blown the relegation battle wide open.

There is a lot to be happy about at Wakefield with the stadium being redeveloped, a lovely new pitch and a potential takeover of the club.

On top of this they have made another key mid-season signing in the shape of Josh Griffin.

He has signed a deal until the end of 2024, following his release from Hull FC.

Griffin, who started his career with the Red, White and Blue says that “Wakefield was the obvious choice for me, I was lucky enough to make my first team debut there at 17.”

“My goals are to help the club and team out in any way that I can, I will help prepare the boys for the upcoming games.”

“I’ll be working hard until I’m available to play again and I’ll make sure to hit the ground running. There’s plenty of competition for places in the back row, which is only a good thing.”

Trinity Head Coach Mark Applegarth is delighted with the signing saying, “I’m delighted we have secured Josh’s services for the rest of this year and next. Not only is he a top quality Super League player, he’s a great person who will help drive standards up in training.”

So great positivity at the club and that has translated into great ticket sales with Wakefield selling out their allocation for the game at Huddersfield with over 800 tickets sold creating their largest away following since 2017.

Another win would certainly turn the heat up on the Tigers ahead of their Saturday game against Hull FC.
