Super League club set to confirm another immediate transfer

Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors may have completed signings for 2024 but clubs like Warrington Wolves, Hull KR and Wakefield Trinity have been busy recruiting for the here and now whilst Castleford Tigers and Leigh Leopards have also been talked about when it comes to immediate recruits,

The Tigers need reinforcements in their relegation battle and missed out on Josh Griffin as he joined Wakefield from Hull FC.

They were linked with a shock move for George Burgess this week as well as a move for Cook Islands World Cup star and son of Leeds, St Helens and Wigan star Kevin Iro Kayal Iro but even that looks to have fallen through.

But the Tigers have finally made their move. Castleford Tigers have announce the loan signings of Billy Tsikrikas and Alex Foster on loan until the end of the 2023 Super League season.

On these new signings, coach Andy Last said: “Billy has been playing for the Bulldogs NSW team and playing big minutes due to the big engine he has.

“I spoke with Mark O’Meley a former front rower who I coached and has been coaching Billy who spoke highly of him regards his attitude and his effort areas during games.

“Billy has an opportunity to show us what he is capable of during these latter stages of the season.

“Alex is a player with good experience of Super League and Castleford Tigers and represented this club with great distinction in his first stint here.

“We needed someone who is versatile and competitive whether that be playing in the second-row, centre or middle and ‘Fozzy’ fitted that remit perfectly.

“He’s a team-first player and a strong character which are all qualities I was looking for as we attack the latter stages of the season. After speaking with him he can’t wait to get started and work hard to take this opportunity.”

This comes as the club also confirmed that there would be a third signing coming through the door of the Jungle.

They stated: “The club are continuing to work tirelessly to bolster the squad for the final run-in of the campaign with another incoming player close to coming through the door in the near future.”
