Super League club rejects NRL halfback Corey Norman

Super League target Corey Norman is being linked with a move to the Newcastle Knights to replace the outgoing Mitchell Pearce.

Pearce looks to be heading to the Super League with Catalans Dragons following the departure of fellow veteran halfback James Maloney, with former Dragons playmaker Corey Norman now in talks with the Knights after he was rejected by the French side.

Channel 7s Michelle Bishop revealed on SEN radio that Norman’s management have been in talks with the Knights.

“I have contacted Corey Norman’s management and they have had discussions with the Newcastle Knights,” Bishop said on SEN’s Breakfast with Vossy.

“I will say that it is definitely not the Knights’ priority.

“I can also reveal that Corey Norman was shopped to the Catalans Dragons prior to this all happening when there was discussions of James Maloney possibly retiring.

“The Dragons were not interested and if you join the dots that’s because they were already well advanced in talking to Mitchell Pearce as their preferred option.”

Pearce is set to sign a lucrative three-year deal with the Catalans Dragons.
