Super League club ready to relocate

Salford RLFC Supporters Trust Chairman, Pete Brady, has spoken to the Shoulder Charge Rugby League Podcast about how moving to Salford City’s Moor Lane would have its benefits.

Currently, the Red Devils stadium share with rugby union side Sale Sharks with the latter wanting to become sole owners of the venue.

That means that Salford would have to change their payment situation to afford staying at the AJ Bell, hence the desire to move.

“If we could secure the stadium for the medium to the long-term we would have he opportunity to be the masters of our own destiny – the naming rights and privy to advertising would all be chosen by ourselves,” Brady said.

“At the moment at the AJ Bell that isn’t possible and that becomes the revenue for the stadium company.

“We also don’t have any benefits regarding food and beverage receipts which is what we hoped would get at Moor Lane.

“With Moor Lane, it has its challenges regarding parking, accessibility and you’re essentially trading your office space.

“But, if we can secure those elements of the deal then in essence what will we do is we will play 14 games a year and find accommodation around here.”
