Super League club pay tribute to legendary player as reunion remains possible

There are still a number of high profile free agents knocking around both in the UK and down under.

One of those is former Lance Todd trophy winner Tony Gigot following his exit from Toulouse Olympique at the end of last year after they were relegated after a difficult debut season in Super League.

There have been rumours linking him to the likes of Bradford Bulls and Featherstone Rovers in the past few months but no move has yet come about for the French international who starred in the Rugby League World Cup this year.

Today is his birthday, and his former club the Catalans Dragons paid tribute to him.

He will always be fondly remembered in Perpignan after he was the key to their first ever trophy in the British game when he helped mastermind their win over Warrington Wolves at Wembley in the 2018 Challenge Cup Final in the game where he secured the Lance Todd Trophy.

So, could this love affair have one more chapter left?

The Dragons have already brought back a former player this pre-season in the shape of Romain Navarrete formerly of Wigan Warriors who also spent last year at Toulouse.

Meanwhile, they have let over 10 players leave which means they could use extra squad depth especially in the halves after Josh Drinkwater headed to Warrington Wolves.

Furthermore, he could very well cover at centre too and after the Dragons missed out on Featherstone Rovers’ Joey Leilua, it proves even more why they should consider a move for Gigot, based on this tribute to him today there is still a lot of love there for Gigot.
