Kevin Iro starred for Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and St Helens in the 1990s doing pretty much everything there is to do in the game.
His son will be hoping to emulate his success in the years to come. Kayal Iro can play fullback but also across the backline including as a centre which is why he became a target for Castleford Tigers recently.
Iro starred for the Cook Islands in the World Cup impressing alongside Huddersfield Giants star Esan Marsters in their squad.
Now he could be set for a huge Super League move according to the Mole of Wide World of Sports.
But is his next destination still likely to be the Jungle.
Previously, Andy Last said on BBC Radio Leeds: “Yeah, I can’t really comment on what other teams are doing. All I know is that we are looking and we’ve had some inquiries about some players. The final part of it is getting the deal done.
“It’s tough. Other teams have been a bit more successful than we have. But we are looking and we want to get that player in that can make a difference.”
Since those comments, the Tigers have made three big signings and could be set for a fourth after letting two quota players leave in Mahe Fonua and Bureta Faraimo.
But could they still be in for Iro. In the past, Last confirmed the club had made an offer for him
He said: “An offer has been made and it’s a case of seeing if we can get it across the line. He’s someone I think could help us.
“The process of recruitment and getting players across the line, you identify the player, offer them a deal and they may agree but the other club on the other side of the world have got to agree to it.
“We’re working through a process and hopefully we get positive news. It’s not a done deal yet.”
However this deal seemingly fell apart. Well according to The Mole, Castleford are still leading the chase for the outside back.
That said, he hints at interest from other clubs on both sides of the planet.
