Super League club launch SECOND appeal of ban

On Monday, at the Match Review Panel, Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC and especially Salford Red Devils stars landed themselves in trouble with the disciplinary.

A huge 14 Super League players were charged by the panel but the vast majority escaped with only a fine or in some cases no punishment at all.

That was not the case for the six players hit with suspensions which led to a number of appeals last night.

Castleford Tigers were unsuccessful in their appeal of Jacob Miller’s ban whilst Salford appealed four charges and won three making King Vuniyayawa available for the game against Warrington Wolves this weekend.

The appeal against Kallum Watkins’ ban was unsuccessful but the club are launching a second appeal of the ban tonight.

They made the following statement:

“Following yesterday’s Tribunal, we can confirm that the club is appealing the rejected challenge on Kallum Watkins’ Grade B ‘High Tackle’.

“The 32-year-old was handed a one-match ban on Monday and yesterday’s challenge to the grading was rejected.

“Although, it was not found to be frivolous – meaning the one-match suspension and £500 fine imposed by the Match Review Panel both currently stand.”
