Super League club “happy to see the back of” departing star says Australian reporter

Yesterday some long expected news was confirmed by one Super League club.

Hull FC confirmed that a release had been agreed with prop Kane Evans.

The Black and Whites haven’t been on the best form this season and Evans hasn’t featured for around a month.

There was plenty of speculation surrounding the big forward and the club have now confirmed his departure.

In a statement on their website the Airlie Birds announced the news.

“Hull FC can confirm that Kane Evans has been released from his contract by mutual consent.

“Evans will return to Australia for personal reasons.

“The club wishes him well for the future.”

Evans had arrived in Hull prior to the 2022 season but in this, his second season he’s struggled to make the same impact. Injuries and suspensions have worked against the big forward during his time in the UK.

Prior to his Super League career he had impressed with Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels before a short sting with New Zealand Warriors rounded off his NRL career before his release.

Whether he’ll make a return to the NRL is unclear at the moment given that the release has been granted due to personal reasons. Evans would have been off contract at the end of the season anyway.

Interestingly, the Mole of Wide World of Sports has made an interesting comment on the departure.

Notoriously ‘in the know’, the Mole has claimed that Hull are “happy to see the back of him.”

He also echoed the notion that his next move was unknown.

He said:

“Kane Evans is coming home from Super League – destination unknown.

“Hull FC are happy to see the back of him.”
