Super League club given huge financial boost

More than 500 people have now pledged their support for the Reds Rise Together campaign – Salford Red Devils’ community share offer that bids to secure the Reds as the first elite Rugby League team to become wholly community owned.

This comes after the club confirmed they had made £250,000 from this campaign last week meaning the club’s revenues are already growing and recently Paul King, Managing Director of Salford Red Devils confirmed that this revenue would be used on players as well as growing the club.

King also gave an update on the situation:

“We’re delighted to reach this special milestone and are excited to see where we can go from here. This is a significant moment in the campaign – with over 500 people supporting our efforts to become the first elite rugby league club to be community owned.

“Despite this, we are seeing a slight decline in pledges per day, so we’re very keen to turn that around. Our win against Leeds Rhinos saw a spike in pledges – so thank you to those who have supported us so far.

“For us to reach our upper targets, the support of businesses is almost certainly a necessity, so we’d encourage any such individuals to come and get involved, have a conversation with us, and pull together as one Salford.”

Head coach, Paul Rowley, also spoke to the efforts of those involved already as well as to the importance of businesses getting involved ahead of their victory against Leeds Rhinos.

“It doesn’t surprise me one bit with the supporters. They use the line ‘give us your heart and we’ll give you ours’…and that’s just another example of that.

“What we need now is the businesses to come forward and really knock the ball out of the park. This club can then not only sustain where we are at, but move forward and progress and invest in the infrastructure of the club, in turn generating more income.

“It means so much to so many people and it doesn’t go amiss with myself, the coaches, and with the players so we’re really humbled by it.”
