Super League club face potential problem ahead of major signing

A number of clubs have announced big signings for next year such as Wigan Warriors who have announced the signing of former Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants hooker Kruise Leeming, Sam Walters and Tiaki Chan from Catalans Dragons who the French side have replaced with the signing of Chris Satae from Hull FC.

Speaking of Hull, Hull KR have signed former Warrington Wolves star Peta Hiku, Oliver Gildart and former Castleford Tigers target AJ Wallace from Bradford Bulls.

From a former Tigers target then to the players currently on Andy Last’s radar at the Jungle.

It has long been reported that Nixon Putt was headed to West Yorkshire and reports have recently suggested that Sylvester Namo will be joining him.

Last has confirmed interest in the duo this week: “Yeah, definitely on the radar. Two players that we’ve looked at with interest, players that have got good pedigree. You know, I played against the England team in the World Cup, was very, very dominant in that PNG team. The age profile, they’re certainly players that we’ve had a good look at.”

That said there is a potential problem with Namo as confirmed by Andy Last who said: “Yeah, he’s recovering from a knee injury.

He noted that this could be a problem:

“Potentially, but we’ve had a good look. He’s only 22 years of age, so he’s of a good age and yeah he’s obviously picked up a bit of an injury but you know that was you know I think it was over two months ago now so and if we you know were to you know sign him you know he’d be available in the early rounds for next season so you know there’s a little bit of short-term pain for long-term game if we obviously did sign that chap.”
