Super League club determined to stop “selling to survive”

Salford Red Devils have faced criticism lately.

This comes as they hope to become the first community owned Super League club.

However, some have suggested that their motivation behind it is wrong.

This is because it has been suggested that the club is relying on fans for success.

Their former star player Mark Flanagan has even suggested this.

But the club’s Managing Director Paul King has suggested that people don’t fully understand and feels that this is the chance for the fans to keep watching their star players and stop selling to sruvive.

“I don’t think people fully understand it necessarily but look I’ve been watching for a long time I remember selling Paul Groves, Paul O’Neill, Colin Whitfield, David Stephenson I can go further back if you want or I can bring you forward to Benny Murdoch Masilla. Gaz O’Brien, Steph Ratchford, Jordan Turner, Richie Myler. We’ve been selling to survive for 40 years,” he said on BBC Radio Manchester.

This is interesting timing with the club rejecting the transfer request from Tyler Dupree this week.
