Super League club confirm stadium sell-out ahead of Good Friday derby

Easter is approaching and thus we are in one of the most exciting and enjoyable rounds of Super League action.

That is because it is Rivals Round where every game is shown live on Sky Sports as the biggest games in the league take place.

Things of course peak today on Good Friday with the traditional derbies.

This concludes with a meeting between last year’s top two and the reigning Challenge Cup holders and Super League Champions as Wigan Warriors and St Helens do battle.

The original derby and the game many people believe this could be the Grand Final in waiting.

Wigan head into the game having just secured victory in the ‘Battle of the Borough’ against Leigh, whilst Paul Wellens heads into his first derby as a coach having defeated Wakefield comfortably.

Fans are anticipating a huge clash and that’s been reflected in incredible ticket sales.

Wigan have now announced that the match is confirmed as a sell-out, in what is the first Easter derby at the DW stadium in four years.

The club tweeted the news of the sell-out crowd, and with a reported sell-out in Hull at the MKM stadium we could be set for a huge attendance total across Super League this round.

Leeds host Huddersfield at Headingley in a double header fixture with the launch of the women’s Super League, whilst a huge number of Warrington fans are reported to be travelling to France to face Catalans.

Some of those travelling Wire supporters have had issues with flights but hopefully it still leads to a packed Gilbert Brutus stadium.

Meanwhile Salford and Leigh face off in another game that’s expecting solid attendance figures.
