Catalans Dragons face a summer of change, as a number of their big-name stars are set to leave the club. The squad which lines up at the start of 2025 could be unrecognisable from that which finished the 2023 season as losing Grand Finalists in Super League.
The dragons have as many as 10 players out of contract at the end of 2024, with a number of departures already confirmed. Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken will join Wakefield Trinity, and Jordan Abdull will leave the club at the end of his loan spell, with a move to Hull FC reportedly on the cards.
Tom Davies is another who has persistently been linked with a move away from Perpignan at the end of his contract, with Hull KR interested in bringing him to East Hull. Nothing has been confirmed to date, however, Davies has taken a step closer to his next move as it has been announced that he will leave the Dragons at the end of his contract.

The Catalans Dragons have confirmed that Tom Davies will leave the club at the end of the season. A club statement reads:
“Catalans Dragons can confirm Tom Davies will leave the club at the end of the 2024 season.
“Out of contract at the end of the season, the England international won’t sign a new deal with the Dragons.
“He joined the South of France in 2020 and scored 60 tries in 95 appearances so far.
“Tom Davies : “I’d like to thank everyone at the club for how they’ve treated me over the last five years. Steve brought me over and I’ll forever be grateful for that opportunity. Bernard Guasch, all the coaches and my teammates have made this club special to me and I’ve loved every second. To all the fans I’d just like to say thank you for welcoming in an English man as one of your own and the support you’ve given myself and the team.”
Grand Finalist leaves Catalans
Davies started his career with the Wigan Warriors. He played 62 games in Cherry and White, before moving to the south of France in 2020. He has been a major part of the Dragons’ recent success and has formed a prolific try scoring partnership with fellow winger, Tom Johnstone.
Davies now has 79 tries in 136 Super League appearances across his career, and has made 81 appearances for Les Dracs. He has played 10 games so far this season, scoring six tries in an attack which has struggled to click at times.
Catalans had managed to keep pace with the leading pack in Super League for much of the opening stages, however, a poor run of form has seen them slip back from contention. They are reportedly on the verge of signing St Helens’ Tommy Makinson for 2025, as part of their ongoing rebuild.
They have also been linked with NRL wingers Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Daniel Tupou to fill the vacancy on the other wing. With Davies’ exit now confirmed, they will be surely moving those plans forward to fill the gap left by his departure.
