Super League CEO linked with sensational NRL move

After St Helens huge win in the World Club Challenge against Penrith Panthers, a number of their star players were linked to NRL moves but they weren’t alone in that.

Crucially, some reports claimed that there could be an off-field star who could be chased by NRL clubs as well according to the Daily Telegraph in the shape of Chief Executive Mike Rush.

The publication revealed that he interviewed for the Director of Rugby role at St George Illawarra Dragons but wasn’t given the job.

He has been the brains behind this St Helens dynasty and the Daily Telegraph believes every NRL club would be glad of his services.

They also reported that he is still keen on a move to the NRL.

According to Jenna Brooks of St Helens, the links between Rush and St George continue however when she asked him he laughed off the suggestion.

St George recently appointed former Leeds Rhinos target Shane Flanagan as head coach.

He led Cronulla Sharks to the 2016 Grand Final.

Could Rush join the Australian Saints?

Not in the mind of Brian Carney.

He said: “You couldn’t see him going anywhere else. He is Mr St Helens.”
