The Super League attendances for Round Thirteen have been confirmed with one worrying figure posted and another huge one recorded.
Just two of the six games in Round Thirteen of Super League saw attendances of five figures, a stark contrast to the four games that hit the figure in Round Eleven.
Round Eleven was among the high points of the season for attendances with 66,250 fans turning out to watch Super League matches, over 10,000 more than watched this recent round.
No official attendance has been confirmed for the clash between Salford Red Devils and Wigan Warriors on Friday night but the remaining five matches drew in 48,801 fans through the gates.
Just 3,458 of those turned out at Thursday night’s game between Huddersfield Giants and Leigh Leopards, a very concerning crowd though there were issues on the M62 which could account for some fans missing the match, and almost saw Tui Lolohea miss the game.
However, that doesn’t account for the near 5,000 discrepancy to the next highest confirmed attendance. Here are how the other matches in Super League fared.
Super League Round Thirteen attendances
Friday night saw over 11,000 watch Hull KR ease past St Helens ahead of their Challenge Cup Final clash with Warrington Wolves, with Sam Burgess’ side watched by over 8,500 as well.
Wire also won meaning they take some form into the game at Wembley but they’ll be big underdogs for the match which is hoping to draw a crowd of over 60,000 given the strong ticket sales so far.
Friday’s other match between Salford and Wigan has no attendance published as yet but both of Saturday’s games drew strong crowds with Leeds Rhinos topping the charts.
Over 15,000 watched Brad Arthur’s side beat Wakefield Trinity at Headingley as fans turned out for the club’s MND awareness game, which fell almost a year after the passing of Rob Burrow.
The Burrow family were in attendance as tributes were paid and the Rhinos made sure to get the job done on the field despite the threat of a Wakefield comeback.
Saturday’s other game saw over 8,000 watch Catalans Dragons nilled by Hull FC, much to the delight of the strong travelling support.
