Round 21 of Super League was a well-attended one, with half of the games welcoming five-figure crowds over the course of the weekend.
It was an intriguing round of fixtures, with Leeds Rhinos kicking it off by stunning Leigh Leopards at Leigh Sports Village. They beat the Leopards 22-14 and that was enough to deliver a hammer blow to Adrian Lam’s side’s hopes of claiming a spot in the top two.
St Helens made short work of Wakefield Trinity on Friday night, while Wigan Warriors kept the pressure up on league leaders Hull KR by winning 24-18 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Hull KR retained their four-point lead at the top by beating Castleford Tigers 36-6, while Huddersfield Giants secured back to back wins as they saw off Catalans Dragons in West Yorkshire.
Hull FC wrapped up the round by putting a makeshift Salford Red Devils side to the sword in emphatic fashion, winning 80-6 at the MKM Stadium.
Super League Round 21 attendances
Warrington welcomed the biggest crowd of the week as 12,503 people went through the gates in Cheshire to watch the latest instalment of the rivalry, which was played out in Las Vegas earlier in the year.
Hull FC managed to record an attendance of 11,242 on Sunday, with what looked to be around 200 Salford fans making the trip down the M62 to East Yorkshire. Those Salford fans were in fine voice throughout the game, though, taking aim at their owners, who were in attendance at the MKM Stadium.
The Black and Whites marginally pipped their cross-city rivals Hull KR, who boasted an attendance of 11,038 at Craven Park for the visit of Castleford Tigers.
Leigh Leopards attracted 8,655 for their visit of Leeds Rhinos, while Wakefield will have been happy with the 7,684 they managed to bring into Belle Vue on Friday night as they lost to St Helens.
The lowest attendance of the weekend, was Huddersfield Giants’ with just 3,245 people making the trip to the Accu Stadium to watch Luke Robinson’s side take on Catalans Dragons. Alarmingly, that’s their lowest Super League attendance since 2021 when the competition was coming out of the Covid era.

Surely we can’t be having these high attendances with so many people stating the game is in decline. Maybe they will eventually shut up and just accept that because they don’t like what I is happening, didn’t mean the game is suffering.
