Round 26 of Super League attendances have been revealed, with Wigan Warriors again leading the way.
Leigh Leopards had their second-highest attendance of the season in their previous home game, but this week, they kept up their good year of attendances with a very solid 8,412 fans at Leigh Sports Village, although their fans did watch their side nilled to 24 by Hull KR, leaving them with more to do next week against St Helens.
Meanwhile, St Helens once again broke the 10,000 barrier, with a crowd of 12,058 watching an easy 40-4 victory over a young Castleford Tigers side. Attendances haven’t really faltered this year despite poor performances – they’ve only had a crowd of lower than 10,000 twice this season.
Elsewhere, old foes Wigan Warriors had a crowd of 15,146 to see their side beat the also excellently-supported Leeds Rhinos 38-0 to keep them in prime position to win the League Leaders’ Shield, and to keep them top of the Super League attendances table for 2024.
The first game of Saturday saw 9,274 at Hull FC as they were whalloped 58-4 by Salford Red Devils – far below average, and their lowest of the season in what is their final home game.
At the time of writing, the attendance for Huddersfield Giants’ 66-0 defeat to Warrington Wolves is TBC, but they haven’t broken 4,000 since July and may have slipped dangerously close to being down at 3,000.
Catalans Dragons’ attendance is also TBC for their tight 12-8 victory over London Broncos, but it looked to be an excellent crowd, potentially that could have challenged solid recent attendances such as the 11,083 against Wigan and 9,214 against Hull FC, even though the away support was much smaller.
