Round 25 of Super League is done and the attendance figures have been revealed with Wigan Warriors’ clash with Hull KR leading the way.
That game at The Brick Community Stadium was the standout fixture heading into the round and it didn’t disappoint with some shouts being made that it’s been the best game of the season.
Ultimately, the champions Wigan showed why they are the champions as they won 24-20 after twice capitalising on a man advantage to help them reclaim top spot in Super League.
Friday night also saw Leigh’s brilliant run of form continue as they beat Castleford Tigers 34-12. That was a game that the Tigers sold on the need for a large attendance to ensure they would earn the IMG points to keep their Super League and the fans certainly responded as over 9,000 turned up.
Another game in Yorkshire saw Leeds Rhinos hammer Hull FC 68-6 with the Black and Whites reaching a new season-low, but more importantly, kept Leeds’ play-off hopes alive.
Saturday’s game saw four play-off contenders in action with Warrington Wolves defeating St Helens 16-2 before Salford saw off Catalans 27-12 to secure their top six status.
Sunday’s lone game saw London aim to get off the bottom of Super League but they failed in that bid as Huddersfield beat them 22-16.
