Doncaster have been forced to call off their scheduled friendly against Hull FC due to their adverse weather conditions across Yorkshire. The Championship side were due to host a young Hull outfit on Sunday at the Eco-Power Stadium as they continue their preparations for the start of the season, but the game will not go ahead.
The Dons did everything possible to prevent the game from falling by the wayside, but with frost sheeting failing to prevent the pitch from being frozen the club have been fighting a losing battle. As such, the game has been called off and both clubs have confirmed that the game will not be rearranged due to the pre-season schedule.
The Super League club were due to name a second string for the game so it won’t impact their first-team preparations too heavily, but for Doncaster the game will have been key with a Challenge Cup second round clash now just two weeks away.
Richard Horne’s side will now host Sheffield Eagles next week in a friendly before their clash against Bradford Bulls at Odsal in the Challenge Cup.
That’s not the only game that’s been called off this weekend with Oldham having to postpone their Law Cup clash with Rochdale Hornets due to frozen pitch. The game was due to be played this weekend at Boundary Park and the two clubs are now working to find an alternative date for the clash.

Keighley Cougars were due to take on Newcastle Thunder this weekend but that game has been called off, as has Hunslet’s friendly fixture against York Knights.
Pitch inspections will take place throughout the day with more friendly plans set to potentially fall off due to the freezing conditions around the north of England. However, most Super League clubs won’t be in pre-season action until later this month.
