“Pinching ourselves” – Brian Carney on Super League in Las Vegas

Brian Carney Super League Las Vegas

Sky Sports pundit and former England and GB international Brian Carney has spoken of his excitement ahead of Super League in Las Vegas.

The first professional rugby league matches in the United States were played in Round One of the 2024 NRL season, as over 40,000 fans turned up for the historic double-header.

This year has seen plenty of prominent figures Down Under suggesting how Super League could help to grow the game.

A large number of fans travelled to the 2024 Vegas games from the United Kingdom, something which caught the eye of senior NRL officials.

Therefore, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves will be part of the event in 2025, as well as England vs Australia in a women’s international.

Now, Carney, via Sky Sports News, said: “I’ve listened to you cover the Grand Prix from Vegas, and I know in the back of my head that Super League will be going to Vegas in the early months of 2025 with two huge sides.

“We’re all pinching ourselves in the world of rugby league. It’s such a momentous occasion for our game. Of course, the NRL was there last year, and now we get to bring our premier competition to the entertainment capital of the world.

“Two really strong sides that are expecting big seasons and the champions, the quadruple winners, the Wigan Warriors going to Vegas.”

It’ll be a notable event, with a number of fans expected to travel from the UK no Nevada.

He continued: “We’re expecting north of 10,000 Super League fans, and I say Super League, maybe I should say Rugby League, not just Wigan and Warrington fans to make the trip to Las Vegas. They do not want to miss this occasion.”

He also joked that his bags were already packed for the momentous occasion – which is a unique opportunity for rugby league fans and journalists alike.
