Strong Super League contingent present as Pacific Championship line-ups confirmed

Leeds Rhinos' Rhyse Martin claps after a Super League victory.

With the Super League season now concluded, its players now have international fixtures to look forward to.

The Pacific Championships see Australia take on Tonga and Fiji face the Papua New Guinea Kumuls this week – and here’s every Super League player that will be lining up after team sheets were released.

Tui Lolohea of Huddersfield Giants was the only Super League player selected in Kristian Woolf’s Tonga squad for the 2024 Pacific Championships, and he will line up in the halves alongside Isaiya Katoa of the Dolphins.

This game has far more Super League representation.

Former Leigh Leopards man Ben Nakubuwai, who spent much of this season on loan in the RFL Championship, is named as a starting prop for Fiji.

Meanwhile, two off-contract players that lined up in Super League in 2024 are also in the Fiji squad for this game.

Waqa Blake, leaving St Helens and rumoured to be joining Sivo at Headingley next year, is named as a starting centre, while Kevin Naiqama will line up in the halves.

Meanwhile, lining up on the other side are another set of Super League names.

Starting at full-back for the Kumuls is Nene Macdonald, who has been a stand-out in the centres for Salford Red Devils in 2024, and hasn’t started a game in the number one spot since 2015.

However, a centre starting in the centres is Warrington Wolves man Rodrick Tai, following an unbelievable first season in first-grade rugby league.

The final Super League man starting in the PNG backs is Leigh Leopards half Lachlan Lam, who has reportedly had plenty of NRL interest of late.

Another starter is Rhyse Martin, whose terrific season with Leeds Rhinos earned him a move to Grand Finalists Hull KR next season, and he has been named in the second row.

Castleford Tigers duo Liam Horne and Sylvester Namo are both named on the bench, while reported 2025 signing Judah Rimbu is the starting number nine ahead of his potential future teammate.

Another man linked with a Super League move in the PNG lineup is Jack de Belin, although it seems the loose-forward will stay at St George Illawarra Dragons.
