With the season well and truly over, we’ve ranked the attendances for every team in the upcoming Super League campaign across the past year.
Only regular season home fixtures have been included, with cup games and play-off fixtures not included to make things as fair as possible – as some sides didn’t have a Challenge Cup home game (and these usually bring averages down), while those with home play-off games would see them increase.
2024 attendances ranked for every current Super League team
12. Huddersfield Giants – 4,532
The Giants barely fill one sixth of their current stadium, and it has been revealed recently that owner Ken Davy plans for the club to have a new stadium in the coming years – something that would surely improve the atmosphere and also give them primacy of tenure, checking an IMG box.
Their lowest crowd of the season was even lower than that of London – just 1,673 turned up for a 50-6 win over Hull FC, although this was in the Challenge Cup.
Their lowest league attendance was 3,330, against Catalans Dragons.
11. Salford Red Devils – 4,646
A low of 2,843 against London was far lower than the high of 6,177 for a clash against Leigh Leopards.
They’ve recently had confirmation that Salford City Council have bought the Salford Community Stadium, and maybe this will help to improve crowds for the closest Super League team to Manchester – but further financial trouble confirmed this month means the side might not be in a great place going forward.
10. Wakefield Trinity – 5,628
Despite being in the RFL Championship, Trinity rank higher than two sides that were playing in the top division last year.
This is actually far higher than the 4,319 from their 2023 Super League campaign.
One would imagine this will only improve on their return to the big time, with a number of big signings on display.
9. Castleford Tigers – 7,941
The Tigers, after breaking the 10,000 barrier for opening day against Wigan Warriors, then hit 9,000 across the season twice, but crowds were usually around 7,000 or 8,000, resulting in an average between the two.
A big crowd for the final home game of the season confirmed they’ll get maximum points for crowds, due to it being above a 7,500 average for the past three seasons – and confirmed Grade A status for the club.
8. Leigh Leopards – 8,391
Similarly to Castleford, 10,000 was hit against Wigan Warriors, and crowds usually just above 8,000 mean a very solid average for their second season back in Super League.
7. Catalans Dragons – 9,612
Some ask what the Dragons bring to Super League, but what they undeniably have are good crowds and a unique home atmosphere.
They’ve added temporary stands due to good numbers coming through the gates – and an 11,083-strong crowd against Wigan Warriors is their highest this year.
6. Hull KR – 9,883
The Robins’ attendance figures came from Supporters’ Meeting Minutes.
Their off-field improvement puts them at 9,883, with every game being a home sell-out, and fluctuation being away numbers.
For the final games of the season, extra temporary stands were added, and further development at Craven Park will surely bring their numbers even higher, after some excellent campaigns on and off the field.
5. Warrington Wolves – 10,065
Good crowds for a solid campaign have come for Warrington this year – and they’re another side whose biggest crowd came against Wigan.
Their last two (barring a game on the final day against London) just about broke 12,000, and if they can follow this year up with some silverware, they may well have similar numbers across the entire 2025 season.
4. Hull FC – 10,975
Despite a horrible season on and off the field, crowds are still pretty healthy.
The average is massively brought up by the 20,014 crowd from Round 1 against KR, showing the huge attraction of a rivalry game.
Either way, it’s impressive to see crowds like this for a team that narrowly avoided finishing bottom of the table.
3. St Helens – 13,105
Another under-performing team, Saints nevertheless kept up attendance figures up there with the best in the league.
Their highest attendance was almost 18,000, for a derby clash with Wigan, but crowds went below 10,000 twice, against Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers.
2. Leeds Rhinos – 14,035
Headingley, fittingly, saw its highest crowd of the season for MND day, where the legendary Rob Burrow was honoured,
17,535 was the attendance there, and apart from a Challenge Cup tie, it never went below 12,000.
1. Wigan Warriors – 14,910
In the end, Wigan emerged top of the attendance ranking, just like pretty much everything else in 2024.
They’ve propped up other averages, and their own Super League home crowds, with a high of 20,152 against Saints, have been seriously impressive.
The Brick Community Stadium has had the highest averages this year.
