It is only a week ago that Castleford Tigers released a shocking announcement as they parted company with coach Lee Radford.
Radford was only one year into the job having taken over in 2022.
But after only three games, the former Hull FC boss left by mutual consent after the Tigers suffered three losses.
Now former Sky Sports commentator Mike ‘Stevo’ Stephenson has claimed that it was all Lee Radford’s decision.
He said on the Eddie and Stevo podcast: “I don’t think he was sacked, I think he made the decision and said ‘I’m getting out of it’
“Lee Radford is a pretty switched on guy and I think the explosion that has surrounded the Castleford side and town must have been horrific.
“I think he said ‘I’m getting out of here as fast as I can’
“I don’t think it was Castleford’s decision, I think deep down that Lee Radford wanted to get out simple as that. I honestly feel it’s Lee Radford’s decision and certainly not the club’s decision, but that’s only my opinion.”
Either way it leaves the Tigers on the look out for a new coach with Andy Last in charge on an interim basis though he is interested in the role full time.
Danny Ward and Justin Morgan have also been linked with the vacancy as has Andrew Henderson but the York RLFC boss has ruled himself out of the running.
