Stevo suggests Hull FC players are struggling because something is playing on their minds

Hull FC have been doing it tough lately though they ended a seven game losing run against Huddersfield Giants.

But behind the scenes it will be a very busy club especially now that May has fit allowing recruitment drives to begin and Hull have around 20 players off contract and there has already been talk about Chris Satae and Connor Wynne.

Former Sky Sports commentator Stevo believes these contract questions are playing on the players’ minds.

He said on the Eddie and Stevo podcast: “Tony Smith has certainly got the credentials but you’ve got to dig deep into the fact that 19 or 20 players are coming off contract at the end of this year.

“If that’s the case then a lot of the players are thinking about if they’ll get another contract,  will they extend for two years, one year or whatever.

“That can run deep amongst the players. I’m not saying that’s the reason why they’ve been poor but that could be one of the reasons, not all of the reasons.

“They just don’t seem to be clicking.

“Tony Smith is a great, great coach. You’ve only got to look at his record so maybe it’s not just Tony Smith’s fault, maybe it’s a few of the players not putting in or maybe wanting to play as much as they did in the past. That’s only a suggestion.”
