Stevo slams “bad management” at Super League side which has caused “downward spiral”

Last week we saw one of the most one sided Hull derbies ever as Hull KR defeated Hull FC away 40-0.

This has many wondering if Hull could be in a relegation scrap especially with 20 players off contract at the end of the year which is widely seen as the reason Warrington Wolves struggled in 2022.

Speaking on this, former Sky Sports commentator Eddie Hemmings said on the Eddie and Stevo podcast:

“The city of Kingston upon Hull has turned red. It was a record win for Hull Kingston Rovers in the Good Friday derby.

“Hull are on a downward spiral, they are in a real mess. Reports of 20 players off contract this year.

“I just wonder if Tony Smith is the new Daryl Powell of 2023. Could Hull go down because they are on the slide.”

However, his old commentary partner Stevo slammed it as “bad management”: “I think they claim that there’s about 20 or 21 players off contract this year. Well if that’s the case that’s mismanagement. That is bad management if they’ve got to a situation where they haven’t been able to sort out players contracts.

“To leave it till the end of this season and 20 players off contract. Wow I just can’t believe that Hull have allowed themselves to do that, and let’s face it they were woeful against KR.

“I’m taking nothing away from the red and whites, they played exceptionally well but oh deary me it’s a long time since I’ve seen the Black and Whites get hammered like that.”
