Stevo says “woeful” Super League side can be the next Warrington

Last night Hull FC lost for the seventh week in a row.

The Black and Whites started the season with two wins against Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos but haven’t won since with the Rhinos running out 34-10 winners against Tony Smith’s side last night.

This bares a huge resemblance to the struggles of Warrington Wolves last year. They started with three wins, including wins over Leeds and Castleford ironically, and then went on a losing run.

Like Hull, they also had a lot of players off contract with former Sky Sports commentator Stevo said is bad management from Hull FC as he slammed them as woeful.

“I think they claim that there’s about 20 or 21 players off contract this year. Well if that’s the case that’s mismanagement. That is bad management if they’ve got to a situation where they haven’t been able to sort out players contracts,” he said on the Eddie and Stevo podcast.

“To leave it till the end of this season and 20 players off contract. Wow I just can’t believe that Hull have allowed themselves to do that, and let’s face it they were woeful against KR.

“I’m taking nothing away from the red and whites, they played exceptionally well but oh deary me it’s a long time since I’ve seen the Black and Whites get hammered like that.”

However, he believes Tony Smith can do to Hull FC what Daryl Powell has done at Warrington though he is taking a big risk:

“He’s taking a huge gamble but we’ve seen it with Warrington and Daryl Powell.

“Everyone in the Warrington fans said ‘what is he doing, getting rid of this and getting rid of that’, well they’re not saying that now are they?

“Maybe Tony Smith has come up with another wonderful idea to keep them and who knows to make them full-time and winning trophies again. He’s done it before.”
