Stevo says these clubs could get to Old Trafford if they merge together

IMG’s proposals are set to re-imagine rugby league.

It will likely see the game pivot towards expansion and giving a platform to new clubs to get into Super League.

Former Sky Sports commentator Stevo wants to see Cumbrian clubs come together and become one club called Cumbria and possibly play in Super League and reach the Grand Final.

“Well the sad part about it is that I’ve always maintained that we should have a team called Cumbria,” he said on the Eddie and Stevo podcast.

“Okay I know Workington and Whitehaven and Barrow all hate each other, we understand that but if they want their fans to one day come to Wembley or one day come to Old Trafford for the Grand Final.

“They would be proud Cumbrians. Over the years they have produced some absolutely sensational rugby league players and imagine if they got their heads together and said ‘we’re sick and tired of St Helens, Wigan, Leeds etc winning everything, it’s time we created something up in Cumbria.

“I know people listening up there in Cumbria will think I’m talking a load of rubbish but if you get into a situation where there’s that much raw talent, why’s it spread out over three teams when they can all combine and make their own history.”

Previously Stevo suggested that they should be called Cumbria Cobras.
