Stevo claims fans could decide Super League coach’s future

Leeds Rhinos have lost six of their last seven as their season hangs by a thread.

They are six points adrift of the play-offs at present and have lost to the bottom two in their last two games and will be wanting to avoid another defeat to a side in the bottom four when they host Huddersfield Giants on Friday.

This has all led to pressure on Leeds boss Rohan Smith.

Now former Sky Sports commentator Stevo has suggested that the fans will have a say in his future.

“You keep saying that results are everything and yes, they are. The fans, well, they’re disillusion,” he said on the Eddie and Stevo podcast.

“To me, there is something underneath that’s going on because one week they can play good, and then, especially in the first half, or vice versa, they don’t play well in the first half and play well in the second half.

“You’ve got to get the you got to make sure that it’s there for 80 minutes.

“The fans will have a big big say and and rightly so.”

Meanwhile, he suggested that Leeds could even be relegated:

“What would happen if say for instance that Leeds continued to lose every single game and Wakefield and Castleford, climb the ladder, which is also possible, maybe not as feasible. Then they could be relegated.

“They’ve got to start looking at the points table and say, we’re not safe. Castleford are not safe either.

“Look I can remember Gary Hetherington said that Richard Agar basically was there as long as he wants, after they won the Challenge Cup. It didn’t take long before that went sour.”
