Steve Price addresses George Williams speculation

It’s been well-documented that George Williams is returning to the UK this week, with Warrington in pole position to land the halfback.

That means that Wigan are set to miss out on their former academy graduate as the Wolves prepare to sign Williams on a marquee player deal, with the deal expected to be confirmed as early as this week.

Williams had spent a year-and-a-half at Canberra following a big-money move from Wigan ahead of the 2020 season, but claims of homesickness plagued the last few months of his time with the Raiders.

However, Warrington boss Steve Price was coy when asked about whether or not the former Wigan star would be signing for the Wolves.

“I can’t really give you an update. I’m not into adding to all the speculation,” Price said.

“As a club, we’re always looking at quality players to add to our organisation but I’m not going to add anymore fuel to it.”

Williams scored ten tries and kicked 16 goals and two drop-goals in his time in the Australian capital.
