Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara has aired his frustration at his side’s recent Super League performances.
Catalans Dragons suffered a fourth-straight defeat at the weekend, losing 27-12 to play-off rivals Salford Red Devils.
The wheels appear to have somewhat come off in Perpignan, with recent defeats to the likes of London Broncos and Catalans Dragons, as well as scraping past Huddersfield Giants, showing that there’s a lot left for the side to do if they’re to be play-off quality.
However, with just two games to go, there isn’t much time left – but the two games are against the current bottom two, in Hull FC and London Broncos.
In contrast, their opposition last weekend are now fourth in the league, and in a great position to finish in the top six.
Steve McNamara vents frustration after latest Super League defeat
After the game against Salford, McNamara said, via League Express: “Both teams had to win that game; Salford have done it, we haven’t.
“It’s a huge disappointment for us to perform like that with that result. It was just too easy for the opposition and that’s what’s really disappointing for me.
“We could have done a whole lot more with the ball but we just simply weren’t good enough today.
“We’re not in good enough form right now and we got what we deserved in the end.”
The side are now down to eighth in the Super League table, two points behind St Helens in sixth and Leeds Rhinos in seventh, making their play-off chances slim.
In contrast, Salford Red Devils head coach Paul Rowley says his side are “the masters of (their) own destiny”, and this is true – they’re two points ahead of St Helens and Leeds.
Due to their relatively low points difference, however, they absolutely must defeat Hull FC, as a game against Wigan Warriors in the final Round of the season will be tough.
