Star signing impressed with the size of the Hull FC’s pack

This week, Hull FC’s star signing Jake Clifford arrived and began pre-season alongside former teammate Tex Hoy as Hull FC prep towards an important season under new boss Tony Smith.

Speaking to the Hull FC website, Clifford revealed just how excited he is:

“I guess when New Year hits, it’s game time. Pre-season will continue but it’s all about building up towards that first trial game,” he said.

“We’ll get a short break for Christmas and then we’re back in not too long after the New Year. That’s when we really get to look forward to the year ahead, and for me personally, I’m really excited to get started.”

He has also been impressed with the size of the players.

Hull have been home to some big units in recent seasons and that seems to have impressed the new halfback who won’t be playing behind a beaten pack in 2023.

“All of the lads look massive to me,” Clifford said, “There are some big bodies in the squad and a lot of athletic looking ones, too. We’ve been doing a lot of skill work since my arrival, so we’ll move onto a lot more opposed stuff in the New Year and that will help me find out what this set of boys are all about.”
