Star player returns as opponents forced to makeshift spine

Tonight will see Wigan Warriors look to restart their winning run after a blip last week against Hull FC and facing them will be Rohan Smith’s Leeds Rhinos.

The Rhinos suffered back to back defeats for the first time since round one and two when they fell short against Salford last week and they now face the daunting prospect of travelling to the DW.

Leeds have only won once away from Headingley this season whereas Wigan have only lost at the DW once which would suggest Smith’s side could be in for a tough test.

Adding to that test would be that they will be without Jack Sinfield who suffered a head blow last week and that will severely affect their depth in the half-backs as they’re also without Aidan Sezer who suffered a dead leg two weeks ago against Leigh.

Three players were already been left out of Leeds’ side tonight as they have been named in the reserves for their own clash against Wigan.

Signing Derrell Olpherts returns from injury to play centre for the reserves.

Meanwhile hooker Cory Johnson was also named for the reserves alongside forward Sam Walters.

With the remaining players Rohan Smith has, he has named Ash Handley at fullback with Blake Austin and Richie Myler in the halves.

Morgan Gannon meanwhile could provide cover in the spine as he is named on the bench.

As for Wigan Warriors they have Cade Cust on the bench as he finally returns from injury.

Iain Thornley is again featured on the wing.
