Star in tears and ‘struggling to sleep’ after horror tackle leaves rival concussed

Canberra Raiders star Corey Harawira-Naera looks to be facing a long time on the sidelines for a horrific high tackle on Melbourne’s halfback Jahrome Hughes.

With Harawira-Naera shooting out of the line in an attempt to get one over on Hughes, his shoulder made contact with the latter’s head with a little scuffle breaking out as the two lay prone on the floor.

Hughes had to be helped from the field by trainers, with Harawira-Naera being given a red card by referee Gerard Sutton.

The Storm ran out eventual 26-16 winners, but the club faces a nervous wait to see if Hughes will be fit for the business end of the season.

But, Harawira-Naera has taken to social media to express his regret and remorse for the tackle, saying he was “struggling to sleep” after seeing Hughes’ eyes roll to the back of his head.

Hughes later responded saying: “I know you didn’t mean it brother! That’s just footy my bro. Thanks for the kind words. Don’t beat yourself up about it bro.”
