Star forward hospitalised after suffering seizure mid-game

Sadly the NRL was home to scenes we never want to see on a rugby field.

With 14 minutes to go in the meeting between Canberra Raiders and South Sydney Rabbitohs, the players were forced to unite to create a shield for Canberra forward Corey Harawire-Naera after he suffered a seizure mid game.

The club have since confirmed that he was conscious, sitting up and talking as he left the ground and headed to hospital.

The club’s last update on the forward read:

“An update on Corey – he’s improving and feeling better and will hopefully be discharged from hospital and return home to Canberra tomorrow.

“We will provide further updates early in the week. Thanks everyone for your concern and thoughts tonight, it’s much appreciated.”

The Raiders were seemingly spurred on by wanting to win for Corey and went on to claim a win over the Rabbitohs 33-26.

Some have suggested that Souths could be real title contenders in 2023 and thus this is a statement win for the Raiders.
