Stanley Rangers, alongside the RFL Benevolent Fund, have set up a JustGiving account for Evan Hawksworth, an under-14’s player who sustained a serious head injury on Sunday.

He was taken to Pinderfields Hospital after picking up the injury but was then transferred to Leeds Infirmary where he is currently in a critical condition.

Stanley Rangers released a club statement prepared with the Benevolent Fund which you can read below..

“The Stanley Rangers Club wish to express their support for Evan Hawksworth and his family following a serious head injury whilst playing rugby.

Evan sustained a critical head injury whilst playing for Stanley Rangers Under 14’s against Batley Boys on Sunday July 9th 2017.

There appears to be no obvious incident which caused the injury and there is no suspicion of foul play.

He was originally taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield and subsequently transferred to Leeds General Infirmary.

He remains in a critical condition in hospital with his family around him.

The Stanley Ranger club will continue to support Evan and his family through this most difficult of times.

It has established a Just Giving page administrated through the charitable Rugby League Benevolent Fund.
