Stadium issue update ahead of vital play-off clash

York City Knights have confirmed that the capacity for Sunday’s game against Bradford has been increased to 4000.

The Stadium Management Company (SMC) at the LNER Community Stadium had initially chosen to limit the Sunday fixture crowd to just 2,000 spectators, despite the fact that York’s clash with Bradford will be one of the most important matches in the Championship play-off race.

It was also limited without bearing in mind that the York women’s side will be taking on Leeds in a double-header at the Community Stadium.

The York SMC had been in discussions with the Safety Advisory Group in an attempt to increase the capacity, with the City Knights club advising fans to purchase tickets in advance so as not to be disappointed if it is a sell-out.

York are eighth in the second tier with just seven wins in 17 games, with Bradford sitting pretty in fourth,  having lost a mere five games in 2021.
