St Helens Women have made a massive coup with the signing of Shona Hoyle from Huddersfield Giants.

A League Leaders’ Shield winner in 2019 with Castleford Tigers, she teamed up with 2021 Shield winners, Huddersfield Giants ahead of the new season.

Hoyle began her career at 16 with Siddal and following the birth of her son, she returned to Rugby League with Featherstone Rovers. After a short stint, a move was made across to Bradford Bulls where she won the treble; the League, Grand Final and Challenge Cup in 2017.

Selection for England came in the same year – she has 13 caps to date, with her first try against Papua New Guinea at the 2017 World Cup.

On joining the Champions, Shona said: “I am really excited about a new challenge and I am looking forward to fighting for my place in this great team.

“I want to pay thanks to Huddersfield who have been great with me, but I believe this move, playing alongside a number of England Internationals will only help my development and I need that going into another World Cup at the end of the year.”

Saints Women’s Head Coach Derek Hardman said: “Shona is a great signing for us. She has been outstanding for England and will add real experience to our pack.

“She knows she needs to work hard and fit into how we do things here at Saints before fighting for a starting shirt once the Super League season gets underway. We are all looking forward to working with her!”

Shona is cup-tied for the remaining Betfred Challenge Cup fixtures, but will look to debut for the Club when the regular season gets underway in May.
