St Helens vs Newcastle Thunder reserves fixture postponed due to Covid-19

St Helens fans were looking forward to a double header at the Totally Wicked Stadium tomorrow.

Ahead of a huge fixture against Hull KR for the Champions which represents the return of Lachlan Coote to the ground as a Hull KR player having scored 23 points last time out against Salford, the reserves were set to play Newcastle Thunder in a curtain raiser kicking off at 12pm.

However, that is no longer the case with the game being postponed due to Covid-19 protocols.

This is under the request of Newcastle Thunder with Covid sadly hitting the Thunder’s backroom staff.

The game is set to be rescheduled details of which will be released as soon as possible St Helens have confirmed.

The Super League fixture against Hull KR will not be impacted except for the later opening of turnstiles. Turnstiles will now open at 13:30 for the 15:00 kick off instead of at 11:45 for the reserves game.

A sad turn of events but it won’t get in the way of a huge occasion which could see James Roby top Kevin Sinfield’s appearance record in Super League with 455 appearances to his name if he plays.
