St Helens v Leigh: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

St Helens and Leigh both enjoyed huge wins last week. The Saints won a Grand Final rematch against rivals Wigan whilst Leigh claimed their first win of the season at the expense of Salford and will be full of confidence coming into this clash.

The Saints are still without Tommy Makinson so it’s likely that Kevin Naiqama will remain on the wing. However, that will force Kristian Woolf to name two centres neither of whom wear three or four. Naturally, Jack Welsby will remain there and will likely be joined by youngster Josh Simm. James Bentley’s suspension will see Joe Batchelor move into the starting 17 whilst Woolf turns to a number of senior forwards on the bench.

As for Leigh, they’ll be boosted by the return of Ryan Brierley meaning Joe Mellor will finally have a natural halfback partner enabling James Bell to return to loose-forward. Meanwhile, new boy Sam Stone will likely move into his natural second-row position after starting at centre last week allowing the likes of Jack Logan and Junior Sa’u to come into the backs.
