St Helens v Catalans: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

In what many people believe is a Grand Final rehearsal, St Helens and Catalans do battle in the most anticipated game of the Magic Weekend. Can Catalans avenge their defeat to the Saints a few weeks ago and inch closer to the League Leaders’ Shield or will the Champions claim a statement win as they look to defend their crown?

The Saints are in the same boat they were in when they faced Warrington on Monday. Kristian Woolf has named the same 21-man squad as he did for the Warrington encounter. So, the only question remaining is whether or not he’ll make any changes to the side who beat the Wolves in their own back yard. I believe we’ll see one change from the Champions in the shape of Joel Thompson’s return. He’ll come into the backrow forcing Sione Mata’utia onto the bench. Unfortunately, that means Jake Wingfield will drop out of the side.

Meanwhile, Catalans will make a few changes to the side who put 60 points on Leigh. The Dragons will bring back some senior players giving their 17 a much more complete look. Dean Whare will come into the centres, Matt Whitley will return to the backrow whilst and Gil Dudson and Sam Kasiano will come into the team to provide much needed size as they go up against the league’s best pack over the last few years.
