Gold Coast Titans are reportedly in the hunt for a St Helens star.
It is not Alex Walmsley nor Regan Grace, but Matty Lees who has been quietly going about his business in recent seasons and has seemingly sparked the attention of a number of NRL sides, according to Channel 9’s The Mole.
Having come through the St Helens ranks as a youngster, the powerhouse prop has become a key component in the Grand Final winning three-in-a-row reigning champions’ side.
And, with former head coach Justin Holbrook now in charge of the Titans, The Mole has reported that puts the Gold Coast in the driving seat.
Lees, who is just 24 years of age, has made almost 100 appearances for the Red Vee of Saints, scoring three tries and has regularly earned the praise of head coach Kristian Woolf for his workmanlike efforts and bulldozing runs.
The rampaging forward, of course, won the Super League Grand Final under the tutelage of Holbrook back in 2019 with the Titans currently in ninth with two wins from two games.
Saints, meanwhile, will travel to the Catalans Dragons this weekend for the Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals hoping to follow in their Wembley-winning success in 2021.
