St Helens star Regan Grace’s future reportedly confirmed

For weeks, there’s been discussion over what Regan Grace’s future holds.

St Helens boss Kristian Woolf has been open about how much the Champions desire to keep the elusive winger who has been compared with Jason Robinson over the last two years but there has been definite interest from rugby union clubs across England, Wales and France.

Now, it seems Grace’s future has been revealed by French rugby publication Rugby Rama.

Grace is a three-time Super League Champion having played in St Helens’ three-peat side from 2019-21. He’s also won the League Leaders’ Shield twice in 2018 and 2019 and the Challenge Cup in 2021 as Saints won the double.

He’s also in a strong position with the Saints in 2022 as they go in search for a fourth consecutive title after he has shaken off an injury hit start to the season.

But it could be his last Super League season with Rugby Rama claiming his has signed for Racing 92 with huge excitement around the prolific winger who has scored 72 Super League tries and 13 Challenge Cup tries for the Saints since bursting onto the scene in 2017 and replacing Grand Final winner Adam Swift on the Saints’ left edge.

But now his rugby league career appears to be over if these reports are correct. It also throws a spanner in the works ahead of St Helens’ huge clash with Wigan next week at the Magic Weekend.

Serious About Rugby League have approached the Champions for comment to see if there is validity in what is being reported in France.

The information came from Midi Olympique who claimed he’s signed a one year deal with an option for a second.

Perhaps this is to allow him to test the water in rugby union and should things not go according to plan allow him to return to St Helens in a similar way to Lee Smith when he left Leeds Rhinos for London Wasps in 2009 only to return at the beginning of 2010.

The timing of it is interesting with the Saints in France yesterday to take on Catalans. Perhaps the two league points weren’t the only thing left behind in France. Perhaps the deal was wrapped up whilst Grace was in France with the Saints.
