St Helens star speaks out after testimonial grant

On social media, it was actually Morgan Knowles who announced the testimonial before his club did but the 27-year-old also commented within the club’s official statement.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been at Saints for over ten years in the First Team and be granted a Testimonial year in 2025. I’ve felt extremely lucky and privileged to have had such success at a terrific club like St.Helens.

“From coming through the ranks at Scholarship and the Academy I have developed as both a player and a person, and the Club has been such a huge part of my life. I would like to say thank you to everyone at the Club, and I’m really excited for the year ahead.”

On his own personal social media account, Knowles released a video confirming the news before posting a message of his own to the St Helens’ fans.

It read: “I have grown up at St Helens and I wouldn’t be the player or person I am now without the influences of the coaches, staff and players there, and for that I will be forever grateful.

“The club and team have been a huge part of my life, I feel so privileged to have been given the opportunities and experiences I’ve had wearing the Red V.

“To be part of huge success at a top club, is more than I could have ever dreamed of… 4 Grand finals, 3 League leaders, 1 Challenge cup and 1 World Club challenge.

” I’ve made lots of sacrifices along with my family, and always given my all. There has been many highs and a few lows but I wouldn’t change any of it. I want to thank everyone that has played a part big or small in my journey so far.

“I hope the great people of St Helens and my home county of Cumbria would join me in celebrating my testimonial year. Details of events and sponsorship will follow. Thankyou for your support COYS.”
