St Helens star Daryl Clark has outlined both the club’s and his own personal goals for 2025 as he heads into his second season with the club.
Clark joined with big boots to fill as he became just St Helens’ third-ever player to wear the number nine during the Super League era after legends Keiron Cunningham and James Roby with the latter having retired at the end of the 2023 season.
Arriving from Warrington Wolves, Clark made a massive initial impact but as Saints’ form slipped and injuries took over, including for himself, the club found themselves in a fight to make the top six – something that they had managed every previous Super League season.
St Helens eventually snuck in but couldn’t muster a play-off win over Warrington Wolves, despite putting in a brilliant performance in the 23-22 defeat, putting an end to a poor season by Saints’ standards – the first year since 2017 that they did not claim silverware.
Looking ahead to 2025 and Clark has given his thoughts on what will be his second season for the Red Vee, as well as discussing pre-season so far, his 2024 and the 2025 goals for himself and the team.

Clark, who was the starting nine for England during their series victory over Samoa, linked up with St Helens later than most on account of international duty but he has told Saints TV just how ‘sharp’ things are looking so far.
“It’s been pretty good,” he confirmed.
“I did a week before Christmas, obviously, the England lads had a bit of an extended break so I’ve not been in and about too much but this first week back after Christmas the lads are looking good and things are looking sharp.
“The field sessions have been spoiled this week with the weather but now we’re rid of that we’re looking to kick on in training and build towards Morgs’ (Morgan Knowles) testimonial game.”
With such big boots as James Roby’s to fill, the 2024 season was always going to be one that had Clark under the microscope but he’s hoping that 2025 can potentially see him make the number nine shirt his own.
He explained: “My performances last year were pretty good I thought and there will be less of them questions a year down the line and it will be about concentrating more on what I am doing rather than what Robes (James Roby) has done.
“Hopefully, second year I’ll just improve on last year.”
After finishing just sixth in 2024 he’s also hoping the team show improvements as he explained that a lack of consistency and their torrid injury record set about derailing the season.
When asked of the team’s 2025 goals, he stated: “Obviously, improve on last year, keep a fully fit team and be more consistent than we were last year.
“I thought we showed in patches what we could do but like I say we weren’t consistent enough.
“If we can keep people on the field and keep the consistency levels high then I think we will be there or there about.”
