St Helens punished for COVID breaches

St Helens have been fined £5,000, of which £1,000 is suspended until the end of the 2021 season, for breaches of the sport’s Covid protocols leading to the postponement of two Betfred Super League fixtures in July.

The fine is at a low level to reflect their co-operation with the investigation, and the unique circumstances following their victory in the Betfred Challenge Cup Final at Wembley – as well as the fact that both postponed fixtures were home games, meaning St Helens have already suffered considerable loss of ticket and commercial revenue.
