St Helens Chairman Eamonn McManus has said the current St Helens side are the best ever.
He told Sky Sports last night that they beat the best Australian side ever and that it makes them the best St Helens side he has seen:
“I think the facts say that this is the greatest St Helens side ever. To win four Grand Finals in a row but also beating an Australian side that many said was the greatest club side of all time.
“My view is that they are the best.”
He went on to say that their World Club Challenge was great for the sport in Britain.
“It was a great achievement for the club and the sport in this country.”
He also spoke about his hilarious celebrations at the end of the World Club Challenge revealing that he was doing so with an injury.
He said: “I did that with a ruptured heel so it was painful. What it was was a massive release of emotion which every St Helens fan felt at the time. It was a game that we deserved to win.
“It was a special moment in my life and in the lives of St Helens supporters.”
